Rivne Region in a Nutshell

Rivne region is located in the north-western part of Ukraine, close to the European Union border (100 km) and Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine (250 km). It is conveniently situated at the crossroads of international transport highways (E373, E40, E85) and enjoys developed railway and motorway systems, as well as an international airport that has the capacity to accommodate and service all types of airplanes.

Rivne region has considerable production potential and a highly developed technical base. The growth rates of industrial production in some sectors are among the highest in Ukraine. Energy production, chemical industry, machine-building, metalworking, wood processing, building materials and food production are some of the core industry sectors in the region. Moreover, the region is actively transforming its industrial structure to accommodate investments in the high-tech and innovation industries. A number of industrial zones are being established in the region.

Qualified human resources are abundant and provided by a developed and modern network of institutions of higher and technical education. 34 universities, colleges and technical schools operate in the region.

Six hundred deposits of eighteen types of minerals can be found in the region. Among them are beds of amber, basalt, copper, tuff, and granular phosphorite, as well as deposits of granites, diorites, and gabbro near the EU border. Almost 20% of Ukraine's peat deposits can be found in the region. Furthermore, Rivne region's forest resources are among the largest in Ukraine.

Rivne region boasts unique historical sites and recreation zones, has rich culture and traditions which underlie the development of tourism in the region, including "green" tourism.

Entrepreneurs from 23 countries have already experienced the advantages of the region. Some of the well-known multinational companies operating in the region are: Saint Gobain, AES Corporation, Raiffeisen Group, Dickerhoff, Lafarge, H+H and LichtnerBeton.
